For eighteen years, Life in Abruzzo has been free, and it stays that way. For the last eight years, our community lived on Facebook. That model no longer serves a community well: content is buried by algorithms, increasingly mixed with AI-generated posts, and every scroll carries an ad, with the platform profiting from the time and content its users provide.
So we built our own space rather than hiring a room from Patreon or Skool and paying an ongoing commission. What you pay goes towards Abruzzo, not a platform’s cut.
Membership is €30 a year and includes:
- Access to our members’ spaces: general chat, seasonal recipes, ancestry research, day trips, local recommendations, and events
- A welcome from people who’ve made the same move you’re considering, or already have
- A direct line to nearly two decades of relationships with winemakers, pastoralists, and locals across the region
- New online tools and experiences as they roll out, including excursions and dinners in noble houses
We’re already delivering on this: this year we helped bring 170 John Cabot University students to Abruzzo for their freshers’ days, and supported Abruzzo Sister Tours with ancestral research. Members often describe us as a bridge between Abruzzo and the wider world, and we intend to keep it well maintained.
FAQ
How does it work?
Join and pay once a year below. Access is set up automatically, no separate sign-up. You’ll get a welcome email with everything you need to log in.
What do I get access to?
Our general community spaces from day one. More specialist areas are planned as membership grows.
Is there a WhatsApp group?
We’re evaluating one. A previous group drifted from its intended purpose and became unsustainable to run. Any group we open will have clear guidelines on scope and response times.
Who is this for?
Anyone relocating to, living in, or simply in love with Abruzzo, including Abruzzesi themselves. It’s not for those after quick answers with no context, or a highlight-reel version of the region.
Can I get one-tap access from my phone?
Yes, you can add the community to your phone’s home screen for one-tap access, just like an app icon. Full instructions are inside the community, in the welcome area. A dedicated app is a possible future step, depending on member numbers justifying the cost.
Can I cancel?
Yes, membership renews annually, and you’re free to cancel anytime before renewal.
