Each first Sunday of the month, Abruzzo and Italian state museums and archaeological sites open their doors for free as part of Domenica al Museo. This is a fabulous national wide initiative that allows you to explore and discover the history and treasures of Abruzzo.

If you are a fan of Italian traditional dress, one museum to dip into is Sulmona’s Museo Civico Santissima Annunziata.

A new archaeological dig by Chieti University will begin in October around Penna Sant'Andrea's Monte di Giove. The area was home to a necropolis that was used from the 7th to the beginning of the 2nd century BC
