Ski Abruzzo - Where the Snow Meets the Sun
About
Ski Abruzzo in Roccaraso
It will probably come as a surprise for many skiers (and would-be-skiers) to learn that Abruzzo is home to Italy’s fifth biggest ski resort, Roccaraso, with more than 100 km of linked runs.
The family-friendly ski area (ski season December to March) has advanced snowmaking and a modern network of ski lifts, including gondolas and high-speed chairlifts.
No Queues
While busy at weekends, during the week the crowds are notably absent, offering skiers near-empty pistes and the satisfaction that brings.
Family-run Hotels
There are many family-run hotels in the village of Roccaraso, a short drive from the slopes, and some offer a complimentary hotel-to-ski-lift shuttle service. The classic Roccaraso hotel is a comfortable 3-star, family-run hotel, offering guests a warm welcome, excellent food and, for families with children, supervised ‘animazione’ entertainment included in the price.
Half-term Ski-ing
In Italy, there is no February half-term, and, coupled with the lack of international demand to push prices up, Roccaraso is an excellent option without breaking the bank. Half-term sample offer here: www.skiabruzzo.com/hotel-tries
The closest airports are Naples and Pescara, with Rome a little further away.
Ski Abruzzo offers seasonal representation in Abruzzo from Castel del Sangro.
