On our visit, the evening began with a vibrant polenta verde, subtly spiced with broccoli and chilli, grilled and topped with a rich sweet pepper ragù. This was followed by a refreshing lemon and beetroot barlotto – a twist on risotto using pearl barley – finished with crumbled feta for a bright, tangy finish.
For the secondo, we were served a beautifully hearty mixed meat Potjie, a South African stew full of clove-scented warmth and sweetened with sliced apricots – a surprising and delightful summer dish. The homemade Irish soda bread on the side was perfect for mopping up every last drop.
