TUA, Abruzzo’s regional transport company, has announced TUA4Fly, a new bus service connecting Pescara airport and Pescara central station to begin sometime in ‘May’. The timetable matches real flight times. Buses leave the airport about 30 minutes after each flight lands. From the station, departures are set, so you arrive at the airport at least an hour before your flight. The service runs daily, with a different schedule each day to fit the flight program.
The launch was announced in Pescara on 7 May 2026, and the service is expected to start before the end of May 2026. At the time of writing, TUA had not shared the exact start date, so check tuabruzzo.it or the TUA GO app before you travel.
Why This is a Big Deal
Anyone who used the AirLink shuttle in the last four years knows the issue. There were twelve services a day from Monday to Saturday, but a six-hour gap in the middle of the afternoon. If you landed at 14:00, you had to choose between taking a taxi or waiting five hours. People still used it because it was the only direct link to the train station and the rest of the region.
That gap is about to disappear.
What it Actually is
TUA4Fly replaces the old AirLink service and offers a more practical option. It’s a direct service between the airport and Pescara Central Station, with no stops in between. The dedicated buses have more comfortable seats than the usual city buses and space for standard check-in luggage.
The main reason TUA calls it intermodal instead of just a shuttle is that Pescara Central Station connects you to:
* regional and intercity trains across Abruzzo and beyond
* urban and extra-urban buses to the rest of the region
* the “La Verde” trolleybus line up the coast to Montesilvano
So, with one €3 ticket, you can get off your flight and easily continue your journey—whether that’s by train to Termoli, bus to Sulmona, or the trolleybus along the seafront.
How many buses, and when
The number of daily trips matches the flight schedule. For example, in May 2026, TUA is running:
* 36 connections on Saturdays (the peak day for arrivals and departures combined)
* 22 connections on Mondays (the quietest day)
For comparison, AirLink offered the same 12 services every weekday, no matter the flight schedule. Starting in June, as the summer flight program gets busier, the TUA4Fly timetable will expand again. You can find the daily schedules in TUA’s official timetables.
Where you Wait at the Airport
You’ll wait in the same spot as before. The airport has one dedicated bus bay right outside the Arrivals exit, the “stallo dedicato” used by AirLink since 2022. TUA4Fly now uses this spot. The buses are easy to recognize, with new branded designs featuring regional landmarks like Pescara, Rocca Calascio, and Civitella del Tronto.
If you miss your TUA4Fly bus, you can use the regular roadside stop on Viale Amendola, just a short walk from the terminal. This stop serves the standard urban lines (the 8 and the 38) and the frequent TUA Pescara-Chieti service. It’s a backup option if you need it.
Where you Wait at the Station
At Pescara Centrale, the bus stops under the second tunnel, the Via Pavone Bassani underpass. This is the same stop AirLink used, and it’s signposted from the train platforms.
Tickets: €3, and how to Buy Them
A single ticket costs €3, is valid for 90 minutes, and can also be used on TUA’s other urban lines during that time. There are three ways to pay:
* Contactless card on board, with no surcharge. Tap and go.
* TUA GO app, in the “titoli speciali” (special tickets) section. This is TUA’s new app, and TUA4Fly tickets are found in this special category, not under general urban fares.
* Trenitalia sales channels, where you can buy a bus ticket with your train ticket if you’re connecting onward by rail.
For comparison, AirLink costs €1.40, so the new fare is more than double. However, you now get departures matched to flights, a guaranteed connection for every flight, and a ticket that is also valid on other urban lines.
Why this Matters
For visitors flying into Pescara from London, Milan, Brussels, or other Ryanair routes, getting to the airport was always easy. The challenge was covering the last few kilometres into the city or catching a regional train without a car. A €3 bus that arrives half an hour after your flight and connects you to the whole regional network is a big improvement for anyone arriving without their own transport.
It’s also helpful for anyone in Pescara, Chieti, or further away who needs to catch a flight. Knowing the bus will get you to the terminal an hour before departure, for every flight and every day, takes away some of the stress of flying from a smaller airport.
I’ll update this post and the ” How to get to Abruzzo post as soon as TUA announces the official start date and the full daily timetable.
