Join Jacqui Dixon for Forest Bathing (Shinrin-yoku) in Abruzzo (in English). This is a slow, guided walk under a canopy of trees, with a series of nature based exercises designed to engage all the senses to arrive at a calmness and stillness through total immersion within the forest atmosphere (there is no immersion in water).
Our slow hike route is a circular walk around the ancient hermitage of Sant'Onofrio. There will be the opportunity to go into the chapel built into the rock face, and also visit a few of the old stone shepherd's huts (tholos) that we'll pass along the way.
Forest bathing is not just a simple walk in the woods, it is a way of immersing oneself in nature. Unlike hiking, forest bathing encourages participants to slow down, breathe deeply, and observe their surroundings on a deeper level, to tap into all the beauty and benefits that it offers.
Join us for a relaxing afternoon of walking slowly together until the sun goes down.We'll be walking a circular route up on the Piana del Ginepro: a vast open plain steeped in history, which lies at around 900m asl above the small village of Serramonacesca (the land of the monks), and stretches all the way to Passo Lanciano.

We will do our best to keep this calendar up to date, however in the case of last-minute cancellations due to adverse weather conditions, Covid outbreaks and so forth this may not always be possible. In these cases, you should contact the event organiser for a refund as we are not responsible for the events on the calendar, only compiling them into an easy list.
