A Taste of Autumn – Festival of Vino Cotto and Chestnuts

Roccamontepiano  is Abruzzo's Vino Cotto capital (Cooked Wine) and celebrates this elixir with tastings and demonstrations of how it is made, local dishes a market and dance and music!  For those that don't know about this liqueur, Montepulciano grapes are simmered and then aged in oak caskets.  Traditionally, it was the drink used to wet a baby's head and given as part of the dowry!

Domenica al Museo – Free Entrance State Musuems

Each first Sunday of the month, Abruzzo and Italian state museums and archaeological sites open their doors for free as part of ‘Domenica al Museo’. This is a fabulous, national wide initiative that allows you to explore and discover the history and treasures of Abruzzo without charge outside your transportation to the site.

Colledimezzo: San Biagio Feast Day

Join the people of Colledimezzo on Friday 3rd February to celebrate the traditional feast of San Biagio.  The day will include the blessing of the loaves (the typical colledimezzesi panettaille), the anointing/blessing of the throat, a tour of the traditional fair, music,  as well as mass and the procession of the saint and a bargain 3-course lunch for just €15.

We will do our best to keep this calendar up to date, however in the case of last-minute cancellations due to adverse weather conditions, Covid outbreaks and so forth this may not always be possible.  In these cases, you should contact the event organiser for a refund as we are not responsible for the events on the calendar, only compiling them into an easy list.  As soon as we have news from an organiser when any event will be rescheduled we will update the calendar accordingly.
