Forest Bathing in Abruzzo (in English)
Wednesday 3 July 2024 @ 09:30 - 12:30 CEST
Free
Forest Bathing (Shinrin-yoku) is a slow, guided walk under a canopy of trees, with a series of nature based exercises designed to engage all the senses to arrive at a calmness and stillness through total immersion within the forest atmosphere (there is no immersion in water). Science has shown that the practice can be a powerful health and wellness tool.
This temperate rainforest, through which we will be slowly moving, is within a spectacular gorge carved out over 1000s of years by the Alento river, which flows below the ancient Abbey of San Liberatore a Maiella, Serramonacesca.
The area is undulating, steep in parts, yet always cool and fresh thanks to the canopy of trees and the sparklingly clear and tumbling waters of the Alento. The gorge is rich in a wide variety of trees, ferns, mosses and lichens, all of which have been shown to contribute in rebalancing our bodies and to generate a sense of calm and peace.
Combine that with having the opportunity for quietude, to slow down and, with the help of guided exercises, thoroughly sink into all the senses in this beautiful, natural area and we have a wonderful antidote to today’s fast-paced, noisy, and over-stimulating world.
There is no charge for this event as it is part of my accreditation.
