Forest Bathing (Shinrin Yoku) – Piana delle Mele, Bocca di Valle (CH)
Wednesday 19 February 2025 @ 10:00 - 13:00 CET
€25
Forest bathing is not just a simple walk in the woods, it is a way of immersing oneself in nature. Unlike hiking, forest bathing encourages participants to slow down, breathe deeply, and observe their surroundings on a deeper level, to tap into all the beauty and benefits that it offers.
UPDATE – Due to the lovely, but large amount of snow surrounding the Vallone di Santo Spirito we will be relocating this forestbathing session to the ancient pine forests of the Piana delle Mele, Bocca di Valle (CH).
Although we will only be moving through a tiny section of the forest, the Vallone di Santo Spirito covers a vast area stretching from the Hermitage to the high peaks and plains of the Maiella. It is an ancient and wild forest of mainly beech and pine trees, with water courses running through. As well as an abundance of mammals, reptiles, birds and insects, the valley is also home to a fascinating and rich diversity of plant life. If you wish to explore further once our session has ended, hiking maps are available to be purchased from https://www.parcomajella.it/ or digital maps purchased and downloaded from https://store.avenza.com/
Lasting between two to three hours, and covering a distance of no more than a mile, a typical Forest Bathing session will guide you through a series of gentle activities designed to engage all the senses as you move slowly through the trees. These activities generally involve slow, mindful walking, breathing, awareness, meditation and relaxation.
Although you will mainly be in silence, there will be opportunities to share your experiences within the group should you wish. By the end of the session, most people leave the forest feeling happy, calm and at peace, refreshed and with a clear, settled mind.
