Cocullo Snake Festival

Unleash the magic of Cocullo’s Snake Festival, where Pagan & Christian rites continue to tango in harmony today!

Kick off the day with an early morning Mass at the charming town church, where bells gripped by teeth will ring in the day, apparently, this protects you from toothache for the coming year.  The star of the show, San Domenico—will emerge from the cosy church confines. Watch in awe as the serpari (snake charmers) bestow their slithery companions upon the saint.

Get ready to wander through the narrow lanes of ancient Cocullo as the procession begins, led by the saint and his serpentine entourage. It’s a sight to behold, a blend of history, devotion, and a touch of wild wonder.  Do expect those in the crowd to all be holding snakes too!
