Italian voting numbers are always interesting!
The Referendum on increasing worker protection and decreasing the citizenship wait period to 5 years is void, it didn’t receive a 50% electoral turnout.  It wasn’t helped by Italy’s Far Right Coalition timetabling this vote on the weekend that the schools broke up, a popular date for 1st Communion and visiting the beach, which is what Meloni advised voters to do and abstain from the vote just as she was going to do.
Just 30.6% voted nationally, just over 14 million, but thanks to everyone who voted!
Abruzzo turnout across the provinces:
  • Chieti – 31.80%
  • Pescara – 30.22%
  • Teramo -28.89%
  • L’Aquila – 27.51%
Nationally, there was a 90% yes vote for all the worker reforms, whilst yes to citizenship was 65%.

How does this compare to the last general election in 2022?

63.9% voter turnout, Meloni’s Fratelli d’Italia received 25.99% of those votes.

How does this compare to the last regional election in 2024?

48.31% voter turnout, Meloni’s Fratelli d’Italia received 24.10%
