Where to Start
If you've never been to a market in Teramo province, three places give you the strongest first impression. Roseto Mercato Coperto on via Latini runs as a covered farmers market on Wednesdays (CIA Mercato Contadino) and Saturdays (Coldiretti Campagna Amica), with cheese, salumi, vegetables, and bread under one roof. Teramo Campagna Amica on Via Roma 49 is the year-round Coldiretti farmers market, open Thursday through Sunday, with morning trading on Sundays. And Largo Madonna delle Grazie in Teramo city on Tuesdays is the classic full-spectrum weekly market: clothes, shoes, household goods, plus a strong food section.

Summer Additions on the Coast
Between mid-June and mid-September the Teramo coast more than doubles its market count. Alba Adriatica runs an evening market in Piazzetta Rovigo nightly from 10 June to 10 September, 20:00 to 01:00, with daytime additions on Tuesday (Viale della Vittoria, "Curiosando"), Sunday (Lungomare Nord), and Wednesday (Lungomare Sud) from 15 June to 31 August. Giulianova has Monday and Friday evenings on viale Orsini at the Lido, Tuesday and Thursday afternoons in the Paese (14:00 to 24:00), and Saturday daytime on Lungomare Zara. Tortoreto runs Tuesday and Wednesday morning markets on Lungomare Centrale and Nord (1 June to 14 September), plus evening markets on Tuesday (Via Carducci, 17 June to 9 September) and Thursday (Monumento al Pescatore, Lungomare Sirena, 19 June to 4 September).
Beyond the Weekly Markets
Weekly markets are only part of the picture. Every village in Teramo province has its sagra season, and most of those days bring extra bancarelle into the piazza alongside the food stalls. Easter Monday, Ferragosto, the patronal feast days, and the autumn truffle and mushroom weekends all swap the rhythm of the week for a one-off market that can be much larger than the regular weekly version. We're building this out as part of the Abruzzo Living Calendar, which will go live shortly. When it does we'll cross-reference each entry here.
A Note on Covered Markets
Teramo province has two working covered farmers markets. Roseto Mercato Coperto on via Latini runs the CIA Mercato Contadino on Wednesdays and the Coldiretti Campagna Amica on Saturdays. Teramo Campagna Amica at Via Roma 49 is open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday all day plus Sunday mornings. Giulianova's old covered market was demolished in 2024; the renovated Piazza Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa reopened on 4 October 2025 with a 2,400 square metre covered area in pietra di Trani, but is not yet operating as a working daily market.
Market Etiquette
Cash is still king at most stalls outside the covered farmers markets. Bring a shopping bag (Italian buste or canvas) since plastic isn't always supplied. Vegetables and fruit are sold by the etto (100g) or kilo; herbs and salad leaves often by the mazzo (bunch). Saying "posso assaggiare?" before tasting cheese or olives is normal and welcomed. Stallholders open between 07:30 and 08:00 and start packing up around 13:00, so morning is best for both freshness and choice.
