The Poets’ Retreat Special Sulmona Giostra Offer

A special offer for Life in Abruzzo Group members who enjoy an exciting historical event, late-night revelry, music and partying.

The Poets’ Retreat, a 3-bedroom exclusive, fully equipped apartment situated on the second floor of an ancient palazzo in the centro storico of Sulmona, is offering a 3-night stay for up to 4 people, discounted from the standard price of €660 for the 3 nights to €560 (plus refundable security deposit), including tourist tax.

The annual Giostra is an event not to be missed! The event is staged on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th of July and begins with a fantastic colourful procession of locals in their medieval costumes. Sulmona’s Piazza Garibaldi is transformed into a stadium where riders compete on horseback at nail biting speeds, each one jousting for one of Sulmona’s seven neighbourhoods known as ‘Sestieri’ After the Giostra there are festas afterwards in each of Sulmona’s sestieri, all of the town’s bars are full, the streets are packed and the atmosphere is electric.

Located in the charming Buonomini sestiere, The Poet’s Retreat offers front-row views of the lively piazza below. On the first night of Giostra weekend, the square comes alive with music, laughter, and celebration that carries on until around 1 am. Whether you join the revelry or simply take it all in from the comfort of one of the apartment’s three balconies, you’ll be immersed in the magic of the moment.
