Abbateggio Bacchanalia

Abbateggio celebrates San Martino with its Bacchanalia festa, when members of the community open their cellars of this sweet town for delicious food and Vino Novello served by local wineries.  Located in the heart of the national Maiella Geopark, the town dates back to the 10th century and is famous for its farro as well as being one of Abruzzo’s most beautiful small towns, a ‘borgho piu belli d’Italia’.

“They open their cantinas and served wine, Vin Brulé, Cacio e Uovo, sausage sandwiches, pasta and pork and Abruzesse desserts. All accompanied by a lot of local music and singing and generally just a lot of happy people, I was one of them. Viva Abatteggio! — feeling festive.”
