Abruzzo Wine Harvest

Trebbiano d'AbruzzoAbruzzo’s white grapes, Pecorino, Trebbiano and Passerina are tantalisingly almost ready and the rituals of the grape harvest  known locally as the ‘Vendémmia’ is about to begin.

We asked the Famiglia Febo about the season and their harvest forecast.  These fantastic, young Abruzzese sibling  Abruzze winemakers aim  to produce wines that interpret the territory and roots of  those who live and will soon feature on our Marketplace.

Overall 2020 is looking  to be a not excessive but rather a good, well balanced  harvest.

“This year we have dealt with a summer which although it hasn’t been characterised by high temperatures, it is has been free of rain which can subject the vines to water stress.  This is why having plots with different exposures, for example our Montepulciano d’Abruzzo facing North and with soils that retain the water differently is so important and how successful vineyards manage the climate.”
