Join us for a unique opportunity to dive deep into the joys and challenges of living in Abruzzo! Our exclusive one-day event begins with a Walk and Talk Tour of Penne and then reconvenes at the beautiful, boutique guesthouse, Casa Fenice in Penne for a bring-your-own picnic, presentations and new season olive oil tasting! 

Virtual Attendance

The day is designed to help current residents and those considering the move and each of the presentations will be available on Zoom who would like to join us virtually.

Spend the day surrounded by the stunning Abruzzo landscape, while enjoying 3 insightful presentations on crucial topics such as climate impact on olives, pools and restoring a property, and experts you need and those you don’t if considering renting in Abruzzo long-term.

It’s a chance to meet like-minded people in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

Penne - A Local's Guide

For those unfamiliar or new to Penne, take a walk through the old centre and its off-the-beaten-track neighbourhoods with Dianne Drew, author of our 24 Hours in Penne – A Local’s Guide and Terracielo Ramona B&B owner.  
This is the perfect orientation walk for potential home buyers or for those who are simply curious to wander one of Abruzzo’s most ancient settlements. You’ll discover how to get around the historical centre on foot while we explore the old neighbourhoods, and see historical homes, various locales, shops and its best eateries on foot. In addition, where to find municipal offices, services and overall ‘the best of the best!’ Finally, you’ll have an opportunity to ask questions about life, living and residing in Penne from a local foreigner’s perspective. Virtual attendees are invited to send their questions in advance for Dianne to answer.
 
Meeting point: In front of the Duomo, Piazza Duomo 1, 65017 Penne

We depart to Casa Fenice to take advantage of their beautiful picnic spot. For those who can’t resist a grill, bring along any meats or veggies that you would like to barbecue! We are trying to make this an affordable but social day out so don’t forget your picnic!

An Intro Into Small Plot Olive Production by Hand

In the middle of a climate emergency, what are the realities and future of our olive trees and oil production? One couple managing just over 140 olive trees in Chieti Province will share tips and talk about their olive trees.

Farah Lodhi, from Birmingham (UK), with a background in research and water resource management, works as a UK-based sustainability consultant delivering sustainability and Carbon Literacy training to businesses to help reach their Net Zero goals. Michael, from the greater NYC area, works in the environment sector developing agroregenerative projects.

Digital Nomads – and the Pros and Cons of Long-term Rental Market in Abruzzo

Life In Abruzzo’s lawyer and Cultural Association member, Michelino Dell’ Elce has worked with us to put together a discussion and presentation about long-term rental in Abruzzo. He outlines what to watch out for from your landlord if you are a digital nomad or renting long-term in Abruzzo for 6 months and how to navigate this type of rental as a landlord.

To finish off our day, Kevin Bowers, co-owner of Casa Fenice will give a tasting of the B&B’s delicious new olive oil!
