Vasto: Emma Archer Exhibition – Contemporary Paintings
Monday 24 July 2023 @ 19:00 - Sunday 30 July 2023 @ 23:00 CESTFree
Heat wave or not or as they say in English, ‘by hook or by crook’ I will present my third annual exhibition in July at the Sala Mattioli in Vasto. This will be my sixth exhibition in seven months, two solo and four group exhibitions by invitation of the wonderful ‘Inclusions’. Destinations have included secluded and prestigious castles and palaces in towns such as Termoli, Larino and Pollutri.
The exhibition will take place every evening from 24 to 30 July at 19:00 – 23:00
The new paintings include two large works that I worked on for a year, in intermittent bursts, they began with an almond tree in blossom overlooking the studio, and then became very blue and abstract with sinuous brushstrokes, finished a year later as the tree was patiently waiting in its sorry state to flower again, full cycle. There are also some sea views in a style I use to work many moons ago.
I have a couple of black and white paintings that reflect my newfound love of cold water. So I asked myself about connection, connection with oneself, connection with nature, with cold water, with making paintings. Entering these still states of flow, or should we say awareness – drawing from all these ways and methods, immersing yourself in sometimes icy water, drawing, with the breathing exercises that I commit myself to do every day, with meditation, being in nature. It removes me from a part of myself, it removes the thinking mind, personality, experience, conditioning, social and relational interactions and influences that can sometimes cause so much discomfort.
We will do our best to keep this calendar up to date, however in the case of last-minute cancellations due to adverse weather conditions, Covid outbreaks and so forth this may not always be possible. In these cases, you should contact the event organiser for a refund as we are not responsible for the events on the calendar, only compiling them into an easy list. As soon as we have news from an organiser when any event will be rescheduled we will update the calendar accordingly.
