This exclusive Life In Abruzzo Pop-up includes lunch cooked by acclaimed wild chef and author Davide Nanni at his family Agriturismo and guided rambles in Anversa degli Abruzzi & Castrovalva on Saturday 15th June.

Walk

Ingrid Paardekooper creator and author of ‘In Abruzzo’ and a local resident will lead our gentle ramble on a ‘friends and equals’ premise through the two towns so beloved by the Dutch graphic artist, MC Escher. We will meet for coffee at 10.00, explore Anversa and then drive up to Castrovalva for our second walk before lunch.

Lunch

Davide Nanni is famous for cooking outdoors and bringing a human dimension back into haute cuisine—his first fabulous cookbook, ‘A sentimento. La mia cucina libera, sincera, selvaggia‘ came out this Spring.

After training in Italy, he worked at Giorgio Locatelli’s in London, then Rome and Florida before returning to his roots to manage the restaurant in his family’s Agriturismo in Castrovalva which is now booked out months in advance!

He truly believes in the land and gives everything to it. His cookbook is divided into sentimental chapters, family anecdotes, his worldwide experiences and naturally superb recipes.

June Menu

Antipasti:

Parmigiana fredda di melanzane con stracciatella e cipolla in agrodolce (Cold aubergine parmesan with stracciatella and sweet and sour onion)
Bombetta d’ abruzzo croccante di lonza e primo sale con maionese di cipollotto e lamponi (crunchy Abruzzo loin bombetta and primo sale cheese served with a with spring onion and raspberry mayonnaise)
Uovo poche in purgatorio con salsa al pomodoro, concassè di peperoni e salsiccia (Eggs in purgatory with tomato sauce, pepper concassè and sausage)
Tagliere di salumi di Marione e formaggi di Maria (A selection of salami and cured meats made by Marione and local cheeses by Maria)

Primo:

Pasta du pecural con salsiccia patate e pecorino (Shepherd’s pasta with sausage, potatoes and Pecorino cheese)

Secondo:

Bocconcini di pecora al cotturo al profumo di genziana (Aromatic lamb balls cooked with Genziana)

In these cases, you should contact the event organiser for a refund as we are not responsible for the events on the calendar, only compiling them into an easy list.
