Rivisondoli Walking Football Tournament – Saturday, 27th September

No registration fee. No barriers. Just football, friendship, and the unforgettable setting of Abruzzo’s Apennine mountains.

A Tournament Like No Other

Picture yourself playing football with mountain views all around, fresh alpine air, and the friendly atmosphere of an Abruzzese village. This September, Rivisondoli will host its first Walking Football Tournament, bringing together competition, friendship, and a real taste of Italian life.
This event is more than just matches. It’s about sharing stories over wine, laughing together at the table, and making memories both on and off the pitch.

The Action on the Field

  • Six teams battling it out across the day
  • 20-minute matches on two side-by-side pitches
  • Every team is guaranteed five matches, giving everyone plenty of chances to shine.
  • A Tournament Trophy for the champions
  • There’s also a mystery trophy for something truly special that happens during the day.
All matches take place on a full-size grass pitch just a short walk from our weekend base. Pitch-side, a hearty Italian lunch keeps the energy flowing.

Your Weekend Base: Hotel Europa

After a day of play, relax in the welcoming Hotel Europa, which is opening its doors just for this event. The hotel has been recently renovated and combines modern comfort with mountain charm. It offers:
  • Spacious, welcoming rooms
  • A cosy bar, traditional restaurant, and taverna
  • Full board from just €72 per person, per night (sharing)
Here, meals are more than just food. They’re a time to celebrate together, toast victories, and remember the best moments of the day.

Sunday 28th September: Relax and explore

  • Visit nearby Pescocostanzo, named one of Italy’s most beautiful villages
    Monday 29th September: Departures after breakfast for those who can bring themselves to leave.
Extend your stay to explore Sulmona, the birthplace of confetti sugared almonds and one of Abruzzo’s most elegant cities.
