Slow Hiking, Hermitage of Sant’Onofrio, Serramonacesca
Our slow hike route is a circular walk around the ancient hermitage of Sant’Onofrio. There will be the opportunity to go into the chapel built into the rock face, and also visit a few of the old stone shepherd’s huts (tholos) that we’ll pass along the way.
We will be a small group (maximum of 10) of like-minded people exploring this lovely landscape of Abruzzo together, with the emphasis being on experiencing the beauty of our natural world as we walk together, rather than how far, fast or how high we climb. There will, however, be hills to climb, but we will also take the time to sit, to look, and to just listen. You will be encouraged to disconnect completely from technology, but there will also be time for a few meaningful photographs.
The walk is approximately 10km and suitable for regular walkers. It will take between 4 – 6 hours (all our timings and distances covered are approximate so we can tailor-make each session depending on the needs of the group, and opportunities we encounter along the way).

We will do our best to keep this calendar up to date, however in the case of last-minute cancellations due to adverse weather conditions, Covid outbreaks and so forth this may not always be possible. In these cases, you should contact the event organiser for a refund as we are not responsible for the events on the calendar, only compiling them into an easy list. As soon as we have news from an organiser when any event will be rescheduled we will update the calendar accordingly.
